When The Time & What Food

Breakfast time for USA are at 7-10 am. Breakfast is an important meal in the USA, and you have a lot of menu options for breakfast. If you prefer to start your day on a sweet note, order some pancakes drizzled in maple syrup or a golden waffle topped with berries, whipped cream or other toppings. For a more savory meal, dig into an egg omelet filled with meat, vegetables or cheese or all three, or request buttery biscuits topped with creamy gravy. It’s common in the USA to order coffee with breakfast though tea and fruit juice are also available.

On the weekends, Americans often like to eat at a more leisurely pace. This has sparked a phenomenon known as brunch, which merges breakfast and lunch. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., many restaurants serve a delicious combination of breakfast and lunch items, from creamy eggs Benedict to savory burgers. Cocktails are very much a part of brunch. Order a mimosa champagne mixed with orange juice or a bloody Mary vodka and tomato juice combined with seasonings such as Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and cayenne pepper. They more likely to find restaurants serving brunch in urban areas, although some small-town restaurants may extend their breakfast hours to accommodate the trend. Because brunch is such a popular meal, you will want to make reservations in advance.

Once the clock strikes noon, most Americans are scrambling for something to eat. Lunch is a moderately sized meal eaten about halfway through the day, usually between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Many eateries provide to-go options for those who don’t want a full-service meal, while food trucks are becoming an increasingly popular option for quick lunches (although the popular trucks might have long lines). Plenty of restaurants serve full meals at lunchtime, although the midday menu may not be as extensive as the dinner menu. Typical lunch items are soups, sandwiches and salads. Burgers are also a popular lunch item and can be found at both sit-down and to-go restaurants. This is a great time of day to sample the wide variety of cuisines served by food trucks across the country. But if you want to avoid long waits, try to grab something to eat either before the lunchtime rush (11 to 11:30 a.m.) or after (around 2 p.m.).

For most Americans, dinner is the most prominent meal of the day. However, dining times vary widely across the USA. In urban areas along the East or West coasts, people start to eat dinner between 6 and 8 p.m. In the Midwest and rural areas, you can expect restaurants to start filling up as early as 5 p.m. You’re more likely to spot families with young children eating earlier, while couples and groups fill tables later in the evenings. On the weekends particularly in urban areas. Americans are likely to dine a little later in the evening around 8:30 or 9 p.m. before heading out for a night on the town. Additionally, many restaurants offer late-night bites until the early hours of the morning, while some are happy to serve you no matter what time it is.

No matter when you decide to dine, it’s a good idea to make a reservation, particularly for brunch and dinner. This will minimize the amount of time you have to wait to be seated. One great way to make a reservation and to gauge meal times in the USA is to use an app like Yelp or Open Table, which allow you to read restaurant reviews, book a table and see available dining times.
